This course received funding from Te Tumu Whakaata Taonga New Zealand Film Commission’s Screen Sector Capability Fund

The fund supports the New Zealand screen sector to develop the business and technical capability to meet the challenges of a COVID-19 and post COVID-19 environment and is part of the New Zealand Government’s Screen Sector Recovery package.

Due to a shortage of experienced Assistant Accountants in the Screen Industry, SHARE THE KNOWLEDGE is facilitating a specialised training course for individuals who want to take their career to the next level and learn Television & Film Accounting procedures.

We are looking for applicants who genuinely want to pursue work opportunities in the Accounts Department who either:

  • have work experience in the film and television industry (or similar) - with or without experience in the Accounts Department. 

    OR

  • do not have work experience in the screen industry but have bookkeeping experience or qualifications.

The course will focus on the role of Assistant Accountant and will include modules on:

  • The triangle of trust: Producer, Line Producer, Production Accountant

  • A summary of the financing process

  • Accountant’s schedule through prep, shoot, and wrap

  • Software, paper handling, and systems

  • Purchase Orders

  • Invoices

  • Petty Cash

  • Payroll

  • Bank Reconciliations

  • Cost Reports

  • The Accountant’s Office

 

WHEN & WHERE

This course will be held virtually via Zoom across two days – Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 May, 2022.
