Who can apply?

The application is open to anyone from the Screen Industry or from a bookkeeping background.

You do not need to be accountant to apply for this course - we are keen to hear from people from outside the screen industries who have some bookkeeping experience

The selection process will focus on finding talent who have the aptitude, personality, work ethic, intelligence and accounts or industry experience to become an excellent Production Accountant.

When and where will the course be held?

The course will be held via Zoom - 10 morning sessions between 20 - 24 July 2020 (Mon - Fri) - 9.30am - 1.00 p.m and 27 - 31 July 2020 (Mon - Fri) - 9.30am - 1.00 p.m.

There will be post session homework daily with a daily Q&A session between 4pm - 5pm

What is the course content?

This course offers an advanced screen production accountancy course that is specific to New Zealand. It is designed for a limited, carefully selected group of participants that have the qualities to be world-class Production Accountants. See Course Information for more details.

Step 3: 9-10 July 2020 - Zoom interviews with shortlisted applicants

Step 4: Participants announced on the 13 July 2020

Is there a cost to the course?

There is a subsidised fee of $600 +gst for course participants.

If you are accepted on to the course you will need to have your own laptop with Zoom installed.

Who are the trainers on the course?

Cheree Cook (Production Accountant), Emma Slade (Producer/Line Producer) and Victoria Dabbs (Production Accountant /International Line Producer) are the leaders of the course. They all have an extensive experience in the film and television industry, including production management, line producing, accounting and producing, co-productions, NZSPG and all other aspects of Production Accountancy. Other contributors will include a selection of NZ Production Accountants, Film Finances, Mydaes Accounting Software. All of the speakers are cherry picked so the content knits together well and fulfils the kaupapa of the training. 

 

What will happen after the course?

The group will have instant access to the ‘2020 Production Accountants’ Inner Circle’, which will provide the trained Accountants a forum to discuss, support, mentor one another as they move towards the work they wish to be involved in. All participants will be encouraged towards a ‘stepping stone’ career pathway, to go from small to medium to large scale international projects. The connections and experiences made on this course will continue beyond July 2020.
