Who can apply?

The application is open to anyone with an interest in working in the Accounts Department in the Screen Industry.  We welcome applications from:

  • People with work experience in the film and television industry (or similar) - with or without experience in the Accounts Department. 

  • People who do not have work experience in the screen industry but have bookkeeping experience or qualifications.

Who is this career pathway best suited to?

This career pathway is best suited to committed and hardworking individuals who have an interest in contract-based work in the film and television industry.  It will appeal to those who want to work in an environment that offers a variety of exciting content, whilst being underpinned by the same core structure.  You are ultimately responsible for procuring your own contracts, although this can present a higher level of flexibility than fixed employment.  If you consider yourself to be self-motivated and adaptable, this career path would suit you.

What will happen after the course?

The group will have access to the ‘Assistant Accountant’s Inner Circle’ – a closed forum where participants can network, share information, and ask questions. Career paths will also be discussed as part of the course with any potential job opportunities being posted in the forum also.  Share the Knowledge are committed to providing ongoing support to all their alumni wherever possible.

When and where will the course be held?

The course will be held from 9.30am on both Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th May, 2022.  It will be delivered entirely online, via Zoom.

How many spaces are available?

We have 20 spaces available and are looking for people from all over New Zealand, or for anyone outside of New Zealand with a genuine intention to return and work in the New Zealand Film and Television industry.

What is the application process?

1.     Fill out the application form found here. Applications close Friday 13th May, 2022.

2.     Interviews for shortlisted candidates from Tuesday 17th May, 2022.

3.     Final participant list announced Friday 20th May, 2022.

 

Is there a cost to this course?

There is a subsidised fee of $250 + GST for course participants.

How will I find work as an Assistant Accountant?

It is the participant’s responsibility as contractor’s to find their own work.  However the Share the Knowledge team will share, with permission, details of the participants with a network of established Production Accountants, as well as give guidance on other avenues for sourcing contracts.
