FAQS - AUCKLAND LOCATION MANAGER COURSE

Who can apply?

The application is open to anyone from the Auckland area with logistical experience with a strong interest in leading a Locations Department. The selection process will focus on finding talent who have the right aptitude, personality, work ethic, intelligence and relevant experience. We welcome applications from outside the screen industry, from other departments within the screen industry and from crew currently working within the locations department looking to move up.

What will happen after the course?

The group will have access to the Location Managers’ Inner Circle, which will provide a forum to for logistical, technical and job discussion. Career paths will be discussed as part of the course with a view to work opportunities and as a stepping stone pathway for further development. Shadowing opportunities will also be developed and offered wherever and whenever possible.

The course is supported by Screen Auckland (#screenauckland) who are intending to maintain a close collaboration with alumni of the course with regards to forthcoming work opportunities.

When and where will the course be held?

It is a four day day course. Dates as follows:

Day 1- Saturday 27th Feb 2021 - via Zoom approx 0900 - 1730

Day 2 - Sunday 28th Feb 2021 - via Zoom approx 0900 - 1730

Day 3 - Monday 1st March 2021 - practical day

Day 4 - Saturday 6th March 2021 - Debrief in Person 0930 - 1600

What is the course content?

Various aspects of Location Management will be discussed over Zoom with a practical day setting up a shoot with the support of a remote production office and the local film office plus a debrief day in person to discuss the outcomes of the day and course in general - Auckland venue tbc.

What is the application process?

Step 1: Fill out the application form on this website. Applications close: date 31st January 2021

Step 2: Shortlist and interviews w/c 1st February 2021

Step 3: Final Participant List announced Monday 8th February 2021

Is there a cost to the course?

There is a subsidised fee of $500 +gst for course participants. Expenses for the practical day will be covered. If you are an MSD client please contact us directly for financial assistance for the subsidised course fee.

How will I find work as a Location Manager?

It is the participants’ responsibility as contractors to find their own work BUT Screen Auckland in conjunction with the Share the Knowledge team will work with participants to seek job opportunities.

 

Why is this course only open to Aucklanders?

This particular course is supported by Screen Auckland (#screenauckland) specifically for development of Location Managers within the Auckland region. We will be announcing a nationwide Location Manager Course shortly.
