NZ LOCATION MANAGERS & LOCATION CO-ORDINATORS’
COURSE
Is this all one course?
NO! This is two separate courses running side by side with cross over modules in certain areas such as overview, script breakdowns and budgets plus other topics.
The Location Managers’ course is a five day course
The Location Co-ordinators’ course is a three day course (with optional practical day to support Location Management training).
Who can apply?
The application is open to anyone with logistical experience with a strong interest in the Locations Department.
You will be asked to select which course you would like to apply for.
The selection process will focus on finding talent who have the right aptitude, personality, work ethic, intelligence and relevant experience. We welcome applications from outside the screen industry, from other departments within the screen industry looking to move across, and from crew currently working within the locations department looking to move up.
What will happen after the course?
The group will have access to the Location Department Inner Circle, which will provide a forum for logistical, technical and job discussion. Career paths will be discussed as part of the course with a view to work opportunities and as a stepping stone pathway for further development. Shadowing opportunities will also be developed and offered wherever and whenever possible.
The course is supported by NZFC who are intending to maintain a close collaboration with alumni of the course with regards to forthcoming work opportunities.
When and where will the course be held?
LOCATION MANAGERS
This is a five day day course. Dates as follows:
Day 1- Saturday 4th Sept 2021 - via Zoom approx 0900 - 1730
Day 2 - Sunday 5th Sept 2021 - via Zoom approx 0900 - 1730
Day 3 - Saturday 11th Sept 2021 - via Zoom approx 0900 - 1730
Day 4 - Friday 17th Sept 2021 - practical day
Day 5 - Saturday 18th Sept 2021 - Debrief in Person if possible 0930 - 1600 - Wellington location tba
LOCATION CO-ORDINATORS
This is a five day day course. Dates as follows:
Day 1- Saturday 4th Sept 2021 - via Zoom approx 0900 - 1730
Day 2 - Sunday 5th Sept 2021 - via Zoom approx 0900 - 1730
Day 3 - Saturday 11th Sept 2021 - via Zoom approx 0900 - 1730
(with optional practical day to support Location Management training on Friday 27th Sept 2021).
What is the course content?
Various aspects of Location Management & Co-ordination will be discussed over Zoom.
Location Managers will have a practical day setting up a shoot with the support of a remote production office and the local film office plus a debrief day in person to discuss the outcomes of the day and course in general - Wellington venue tba.

How many spaces are available on the course?
LOCATION MANAGERS -
We have 14 spaces available and are looking for at least two people from each region across Aotearoa
LOCATION CO-ORDINATORS
We have 10 spaces available from across Aotearoa
What is the application process?
Step 1: Fill out the application form on this website. Applications close: date 27th August 2021
Step 2: Shortlist and interviews 30th & 31st August 2021
Step 3: Final Participant List announced Wednesday 1st September 2021
Is there a cost to the course?
LOCATION MANAGERS:
There is a subsidised fee of $500 +gst for course participants.
Expenses for the practical day will be covered.
LOCATION CO-ORDINATORS
There is a subsidised fee of $300 +gst for course participants.

How will I find work as a Location Manager?
It is the participants’ responsibility as contractors to find their own work BUT the Regional Film Offices in conjunction with the Share the Knowledge team will work with participants to seek job opportunities.
